Engagement models

A commercial structure that fits the uncertainty.

The engagement model should match the decision, the clarity of the boundary, and the amount of discovery still required. Scope and commercial assumptions are made visible before commitment.

Five practical shapes

Choose the operating model, then define the exact scope.

These models create a useful starting point. The proposal states the actual boundaries, responsibilities, schedule, deliverables, and commercial structure for the work.

Commercial clarity

Price follows a defined body of work.

A responsible estimate depends on more than a service label. These factors are made explicit so the client can see what drives effort, uncertainty, and delivery risk.

01 / Objective
The decision, assurance need, or condition the work must resolve
02 / Boundary
Locations, systems, applications, identities, providers, and exclusions
03 / Depth
Review, validation, testing, design, documentation, or implementation guidance required
04 / Access
People, records, configurations, connectivity, tooling, and site access needed
05 / Risk
Production sensitivity, testing constraints, data handling, change windows, and coordination
06 / Output
Deliverables, stakeholder groups, review cycles, presentation, and handoff expectations

What a proposal should establish

No hidden definition of “done.”

Depending on scope certainty, an engagement may use a fixed-fee defined scope, time-based advisory, or phased discovery followed by a confirmed body of work. The selected structure and change process are stated in the proposal.

  1. 01

Objective, success conditions, and priority questions

  2. 02

In-scope boundary, exclusions, assumptions, and client responsibilities

  3. 03

Activities, access, safeguards, communication, and schedule

  4. 04

Deliverables, review points, acceptance, and closeout

  5. 05

Fees, expenses if applicable, payment terms, and scope-change method

Start with the decision

A clear engagement starts with a clear reason for the work.

You do not need a complete statement of work. Share the objective and constraints; we will help define the right shape.

Engagements can be delivered remotely, on site, or through a hybrid model. Location, scheduling, site access, and any travel requirements are agreed during scoping.
